My son and I are looking for a full time live-in nanny/cook/housekeeper to start as soon as possible for a long term position in the sunny coastal area neighbouring the historic town of Hastings. I am a single mama working as an intensive care doctor including shifts and thus need someone willing to work in a flexible manner across a rolling 8 week rota. I’m friendly and outgoing.

My son is 5 years old and about to start school locally. He is a bright, very sunny and cheerful little boy who tends to make grownups around him laugh a lot. He is very brave and very rarely cries about anything. He is very robust and healthy and very rarely needs time off from nursery. He is also very well behaved for a 5 year old, and stays in his bed all night. As he is at school during weekdays there will likely be a lot of downtime during the day for the successful applicant during termtime unless of course he is unwell and needs to be at home instead.

I would require a 3 month notice period if you chose to leave.

WORKING PATTERN

Standard full-time live in hours i.e. average 12h / day over 6 days each week, average 2 nights a week sole care overnight.

Typically day off to be taken on a weekday which will usually be on a different day each week

My work rota is an 8 week repeating cycle and so this would reflect in your pattern of work as well.

Most importantly this would include one run of 8 full days consecutively plus overnights during the 1 week every 8 weeks where I work 13h night shifts. This means I need my boy minded all day while I sleep between shifts and overnight whilst I am at work. The missed day off would be given the following week before or after the usual day off.

One week day each week also will require night time cover from 1900 to 2200 for my long day shift

Due to the nature of my work I would need the nanny that comes to live with us to be permanently available by phone whilst my son is at school on working days and within 30 minute’s drive so if he needed to be collected for any reason

COOKING / HOUSEKEEPING

Regarding cooking and cleaning no experience required but enthusiasm and willingness to work to a very high standard including animal (cats and mice) care.

Able to take control of shopping and all additional errands as required and use initiative.

ABSOLUTE REQUIREMENTS

Evidence of right to work in the UK

Childcare references covering last 3 years

Initiative to choose activities and trips

Ability to assist with homework

Active and in good health and able to run about and keep up with an active 5 year old boy, also able to swim with confidence

Non smoker

Enhanced DBS (up to date)

Recent first aid qualification (last year)

Clean driving licence
