The experience I have gained through the many roles I have undertaken has given me a wide range of knowledge, understanding and capability in child care. This has enabled me to develop a passion for the profession and encourages me to excel and strive to achieve more, not just for myself but for the children I care for. I am mature, work well in a team as well as using my own initiative and am happy to take on new challenges. Although I have struggled with Dyslexia all my life, I have never let this prevent me from achieving my goals and aspirations and feel that in my most recent experiences it has enabled me to have a clearer understanding of children with leaning difficulties.

Work and other experiences
.
Little Crickets Nursery – In 2012 I enrolled onto a Health and Social Care course at Walsall College. Two days a week during this course I was required to do volunteer work in a health and social care setting. This took place at Little Crickets Nursery. Following this placement I was offered a part time apprenticeship job to study a NVQ level 2 in Children and Young people’s work force.
My time at Little Crickets has made me more confident and happier to take on responsibility. I truly enjoy working with the children helping them to learn and achieve. It has given me opportunities to broaden my knowledge and experience with children. I have a great relationship with all members of staff and am a committed team worker. I have attended numerous courses and have been involved in child assessments and observations planning, staff meetings and parental consultations.

Qualifications I have gained whilst been at little crickets nursery,
NVQ level 2 Children and young people’s work force
HABC level 2 award in food safety and catering (29th July 2013)
Paediatric first aid (22nd September 2013)
Safeguarding children and young people including child protection (12th June 2013)
I am two, having fun on the floor (26th February 2014)
Research on a plate, the creative leaner (11th February 2014)
Functional skills ICT level 1

I am also going to be attending an EYFS course on the 23rd June 2014.

Meadow View JMI School – As Little Crickets nursery was only a part time apprenticeship I volunteered at Meadow View Junior and Infant school working with 3-5 year olds. As a result of this, I have gained a wide range of experiences from working in a private setting (Little Crickets) to working in a mainstream setting (Meadow View).

Cubs & Beavers – I have been a member of Third Walsall Sea Scouts since the age of 6. As I have worked my way up through the organisation, I have had to take on more responsibility such as deck leader in scouts, which requires excellent leadership skills. Now I have reached the Beavers as a young helper.

Personal Interests
I have been a keen sailor for many years; I gained an interest in sailing through my family and Third Walsall Sea Scouts. With my sailing I have assisted with the organising of regattas and the teaching of younger people. Another interest of mine is Arts and Crafts for which I have flair; this is useful when working with children. My art and craft skills have produced some super displays of children’s work and I enjoy getting “messy”. This year I have enjoyed a three day pottery course. When I am not sailing or crafting I enjoy listening to all genres of music. I also love to swim and attend a swimming club twice a week. Recently I passed my theory driving test and enjoy my driving lessons.
