My husband and I adopted a 5 (to be 6 this month) year old boy last October. We love doing things as a family, travelling, laughing, and spend a lot of time calling each other stinky which is hours of fun!
Our son is a very bubbly and charming little boy and can make friends with a bare pole! He talks for England and is very endearing. He has an excellent relationship with his TA and she sometimes babysits for us but I am due to go back to work in October and I would like to start building a relationship with nanny so that it will not be a new thing for him when I go back in October.
I am sure there might be other ways in which our nanny can help us but as our schedule stands right now, we are looking for someone to pick our son up from school on a Monday, bring him home, get him ready for his swimming lesson, take him to his swimming lesson and then bring him back home. It would be about 3 hours a week but as the relationship develops, we can start using this person for evening babysitting during the week as well. There might also be opportunities to travel with us (probably within the UK when we need a break) and help with childcare. As he is adopted and struggles with attachment, it is still too much for him to handle to do an overnight with friends or family without us being there in the morning.
