I have boy girl twins 10 years old, Year 6 at Whitstable Juniors. My working hours mean that I cannot pick them up, supervise homework and other non-screen-based activities, and cook dinner Mon-Thurs. I need help from school pick at 3.15pm to 7.15pm.
I (and my twin) had an after school local nanny when I was in primary school and I really enjoyed that interaction and doing cooking and crafts. I have two older children (both away from home now) who also had an after school nanny and this worked really well for giving structure to that period after school when homework either gets done or dodged and food is either healthy or shop bought snacks.
I am looking for that sort of vibe of an older, experienced adult to spend time doing things with the kids that is not sitting in front of a screen. I also need someone who is caring, diplomatic, firm and calm in not giving way on rules around homework, reading, sitting down for a meal and screen time.
I need an experienced nanny/retired teacher, preferably an older woman who would enjoy looking after my twins in this key transition year from junior school to secondary. This would be an ongoing relationship into secondary school.
My son in particular needs encouragement to remember rules about screen time but he has lots of of other talents - drawing and cooking. My daughter is more social and is imaginative and could be interested in crafts, particularly sewing. This is not an anti-technology family but I would like the children to get homework, reading, crafts and supper done first and then they can have screen time.
