A hard-working, nurturing and reliable qualified nanny with several years of experience caring for children from 2 months to 12 years. I pride myself on quickly establishing a trusting bond with babies, young children and their parents/carers. I am passionate about providing top class care to children, this has shown in my progression from nanny to childcare manager in my previous job role working abroad. Throughout my career in childcare I have built lasting relations with many families whose children have been in my care.
I am currently in my fourth and final year of studying primary education at university. Through this course I have gained invaluable experience into supporting the social, emotional and educational development of children. I have also partaken in several placements; spending time taking on the role of the teacher from nursery to upper primary school. This has provided me with further experience not only in teaching children but also more opportunities to create fun and safe environments for children to naturally thrive and develop.
Most recently I was responsible for the smooth running of a safe and enjoyable children’s club programme for children aged 4months-17 years. This included training and supporting a team of nannies to deliver the highest standard of care; ensuring each child experienced a nurturing, fun and safe environment each day so their families felt confident leaving their children in the care of myself and my team of nannies. This job role was wide and varied however my main day-to-day tasks were ensuring children were having a brilliant time, joining in with childcare where needed and liaising with families to tailor childcare requirements to suit them where necessary. This included dealing with any issues which arose, whether this was supporting nannies caring for children with challenging behaviour or soothing children that became distressed when their parent/carer left.
My daily routine included;
• Ensuring the enjoyment and welfare of children aged 4 months-18 years. In particular those aged 4months-6 years.
• Welcoming new guests and children each week- building relationships, learning routines and settling children into my care.
• Researching and carrying out sensory activities for younger children to both stimulate and engage even the youngest of children in my care.
• Quickly building a relationship with families to ensure they felt happy and confident leaving their children in my care.
• Following a night time routine for younger children including making bottles, feeding, bathing and settling children to sleep.
• Adapting to the different needs and behaviour of each individual child.
• Creating a memorable experience for children of varying ages by organising a diverse range of fun, active and safe activities each day.
• Communicating with families to ensure smooth transfer of information and care.
Prior to this management role I spent four summers working with this active holiday company across Europe as a qualified nanny with extensive baby and toddler experience; building strong and lasting relationships with children and their families, creating fun and engaging activities for every age group and delivering the high standard of care which I then supported my team to achieve.
Throughout my time at university I have worked part time in a private nursery. I worked as part of a small team planning and leading play experiences which helped promote the emotional, social and educational development of children aged 2 months-4 years. This included ensuring every activity was adapted to meet the age and stage of each individual child. I was in regular contact with parents, sharing information and dis-cussing new targets or any concerns parents had. I helped settle in new children, ensuring they felt comfortable and safe in new surroundings and helping children learn to share and play with others. The care I gave children also helped promote their independence-where appropriate helping children learn to feed themselves and begin to take confidence in completing tasks such as zipping up their jackets and putting on shoes.
This is by no means an exhaustive list of my childcare experience- please do not hesitate to pop me a message if you have any questions or would like any further information.
I have up to date checks with both the PVG (Scotland) and DBS. Alongside this I completed my paediatric first aid course last year.
