Personal statement

For the past 6 years I have taken care of my grandfather who lives with us but is in poor health and at 90 years of age. He has numerous health issues, which leave him bed ridden for the majority of the time. He requires constant medical assistance and care. I have learnt through this experience about the importance of care provided to those in need. It is very hard to see a family member with declining health struggle with everyday tasks and I have seen first-hand how valuable the care provided to him is. Without the care of my family, care workers and medical professionals my grandfather would not be here with us today. I have grown a lot closer to my grandfather during the past 4 years and this was the main driving force for me becoming a carer. I want to be able to give back to the community by helping those in need and I have a strong motivation to continue this care work for the rest of my life.
