Hello,
My name's Jodie . I'm an 18 year old girl who lives in a small town near Bristol.
I have always had a passion for working with children since I was young myself and knew it would be my career. Growing up I would help look after neighbours/family friends children for the day, take them down to the beach and babysit on evenings when I was no older than 13, so I would call myself trustworthy. From then I went on to babysit other families.
I am currently just finishing my Childcare, Play, Learning and Development level 3 course at Bridgwater College, which I have loved. By doing this course I have got to work in a range of settings these have been; Working as a 'live out' nanny for a baby and toddler, a nursery with children aged 2-4, a school with children aged 4-7 and a S.E.N placement with children aged 1-5 years old. These placements have completely opened my eyes and I have learnt a wide set of skills doing these including Makaton which I am going on later this month to officially do my level 1 beginners course to gain a certificate in this. I have had to plan and implement various activities for each setting, these have been in large groups and 1-to-1 and alongside these activities I have to had to do many observations and various assignments.
Later this month we are doing our First Aid course, so I will have a first aid qualification, and we have previously done our Food and Hygiene Safety qualification.
I consider myself to be a reliable, caring, trustworthy person and believe that no day should be lived without smiles and laughter. That may sound cheesy and cliché, but it's true and children should be living these early years being happy and being able to have the best memories. I am also a firm believer that there need to be boundaries, rules and respect for each other for it to be a happy environment. To do this I have patience and know that rules need to be followed through and be implemented no matter where you are or how hard the child battles with you to not follow the rule, and no matter how much you just want to give them a hug and let them off. With this in place the children should be learning through play and having fun. I have a very bubbly personality and have plenty of energy. I think play from home is important, but I also believe children should be outside and be doing various activities and am more than happy to take children out to do these and get stuck in. Alongside this I am also an animal lover, so pets are not a problem for me. I have done plenty of dog sitting/dog walking and currently have 2 kittens and a 1 year old house rabbit and am happy to learn about other animals.
I am also part of an Amateur Dramatics group where we put on 2-3 shows a year where we sing, dance and act. I have been part of this group for 3-4 years and have been in many of the shows. Alongside this I have done a couple of other large performances, which I love doing and am very passionate about. By doing this I have gained a lot of confidence and am able to have fun, and also perform alongside children ranging from age 5 and up and became quite a figure for the young ones which included them all having to have a hug and high 5 before they go on stage, and making sure they are all happy and OK.
I hope this is enough information about me, but if you have any questions or queries then do not hesitate to get in touch and I will reply as quickly as I can. Thank you.
