I am an enthusiastic, dedicated and qualified Nursery Nurse. I love working with children to help them to develop and nurture their skills. I enjoy the company of children of all ages and possibly because I am calm by nature, they respond well to me. I am hardworking, honest and reliable. I also pride myself on being a good timekeeper.
I am very keen and enthusiastic about the work I do. I am well-organised, highly motivated and have excellent communication skills. In addition I am reliable, flexible, and quick to learn.
I have eight standard grades and also I have completed a course in preparation for a career in care, I have also gained my SVQ level 3 in child care and education and am now a fully qualified early year’s practitioner.
Some of my roles within the nursery are:
• Welcoming the children in the morning – comforting them as this could be very difficult for some children to leave their parents.
• Holding group activities such as song time or story time – this involved keeping all of the children’s attention and making it and enjoyable experience for them.
• Planning for art activities and messy activities - these types of activities allow the children to develop many skills such as socializing, their hand/eye co-ordination, and also fine and gross motor skills.
• Meal times – filling out the children’s meals ensuring that I am following all the food and hygiene regulations, also ensuring that I am meeting the children’s needs for example some children have allergies ensuring that I am dealing with this appropriately.
• Portfolios- I have key children within my nursery setting who I observe daily and keep a record of all their development areas according to the pre-birth to three document such as – rights of the child, responsive care, respect, relationships, health and wellbeing, literacy and numeracy and also cognitive.
• Evaluating- at the end of each week I evaluate the activities I have carried out throughout the week finding the strengths of each activities and also the areas that I may need to work on.
