My name is Ashleigh , I am a 24 year old from Perthshire in Scotland and I have a Higher and an NC in Early Education and Childcare.

Working with children plays a major role in my life and I am very passionate about it. I have two siblings who at 14 and 10 years younger than me have provided me with a wealth of knowledge and experience that have laid the foundations for my career in childcare.

Having relished my role in the upbringing of my brother and sister as well as thoroughly enjoying the several babysitting jobs I had throughout my school years I felt compelled to visit children in a 3rd world country (which also tied in with my love of travel). This led to me spending 2 months in an orphanage in Nepal during the Autumn of 2008. Despite the demanding and sometimes difficult nature of orphanage work, I found the experience greatly rewarding and loved my time caring for the children. Seeing the children develop and learn under my care is the most rewarding experience I have had.

On my return from Nepal I enrolled at Anniesland College Glasgow to study childcare. I attended two 8 month placements in nurseries where I was praised for my mature, responsible and nurturing way of caring for the children as well as my imaginative ideas for children’s learning and creative activities.

I have also worked in The Ceramic Experience in Crieff, adding to my experience guiding and encouraging children through the creative process of sculpting and painting a variety of clay ornaments.

I thoroughly enjoyed nannying for a family in Killin throughout the school holidays. I have always loved caring for and being around children and feel confident I can provide a nurturing, stable and positive environment in which they can thrive.

I have excellent communication and organisational skills and pride myself on my enthusiastic and motivated nature. My other great passions are travel and cooking. Whilst working seasonally as a front of house manager in a family bistro I have made several trips abroad, most recently travelling through India and Nepal. Cooking is something that I get great enjoyment out of. I love to prepare tasty and healthy meals, learning new recipes and then sharing them with my friends and family is something that I take great satisfaction from.
