I am a calm, conscientious, caring and hardworking individual who is able to build up rapport quickly with children and adults, making me approachable. I can skilfully tackle sensitive matters with ease and feel able to provide a gentle and non judgmental approach to all the work i undertake.
I have a number of transferable skills that benefit many working environments, which include assessment and communication skills, supervision and analytical skills and strong values and clear boundaries.
I work well individually or as part of the team using my own initiative or following instructions as required. I have excellent time management and diary skills and can organise and plan effectively with the ability to think on my feet if need be.
Knowledge
I have a solid understanding of child development and understand age and stage appropriateness when helping to develop children’s learning.
I am aware that each child develops at their own pace and can put in place through careful observation appropriate plans and activities to help each child thrive within their given setting.
I have excellent knowledge of boundaries and discipline and work efficiently with the curriculum from birth to age five.
Experience

Communication with families and professionals through child planning meetings.
Solid Knowledge and experience using the curriculum of excellence on a daily basis, linking to children’s work and development.
Background in working with GIRFEC, recording factual information, child’s daily journals, contributing to team meetings and development, Observing interaction and reporting concerns appropriately to parents and carers.
Pre-school
I was responsible for the safety and wellbeing of the children in my care. Further to this i had responsibilities for individual care planning to assist with the personal, social, emotional and academic development of children within my key group. This required me to adhere to the guidance set within the curriculum of excellence.
I was responsible in providing a warm, welcoming and secure environment for children attending nursery, with the opportunity for them to learn basic values and morals.
Given my length of service and experience i had a number of additional responsibilities such as mentoring student. This required me to observe, interact and supervise each individual student before submitting an evaluation and assessment of their practice.
I had responsibilities in opening and closing the nursery and providing in house first aid to children and colleagues.
I was part of the fund raising committee which see’s responsibility with creative and fun ideas to raise money as i worked with a charity.
