I am a 21 year old female looking for childcare experience in the hopes of perhaps one day going into education. This will be my full time job so preferably I am looking for a family that requires a 9-5 weekday nanny, although extended working hours are not an issue for me. My pay-rate is also negotiable as I understand I do not hold any formal qualifications, and that formal childcare is extremely expensive as it is!
I do not currently have a driving license (as I am still learning) and am based in Hatton, Derbyshire so I would much prefer a home that is within walking distance, or perhaps a short bus ride, from my home. That being said, I am an avid walker so doing a school run is not an issue for me as long as your children are comfortable with walking.
Being the youngest child in my family for 12 years, I was ecstatic when my family decided to have more children and I have loved contributing to their care and watching them become intelligent and considerate individuals. Although I do not have any formal childcare qualifications, my aunt/uncle and brother/sister-in-law all have hefty work commitments, which means that my former student status has allowed me the flexibility to care for their children during the school holiday period. My experience is primarily with children aged between 2 and 10 and I have often cared for both my cousins (girls aged 6 and 9) and nephews (boys aged 9 and 4) together, which is very challenging but something I am capable of.
I have recently graduated from university in Manchester and have a degree in English Literature (2:1). I have experience with tutoring high school aged children through the charity Action Tutoring, helping prepare for GCSE level curriculum, but I also have eight under 10s in my family so have experience with primary school level homework too. I would be very open to helping children with homework, school-related activities and a little bit of extra tuition because I believe practice equals confidence in the classroom and that can go a very long way for some children. I think the biggest thing I have learnt from caring for and spending time with children of various ages is that every child views the world differently and deserves the respect to be understood, regardless of temperament and personality. This is why I will encourage your children to be vocal with me in terms of things that they need help with, but might be unsure as to whether to approach me about.
As for the practical side of childcare: I have lived independently since university so am capable of basic maintenance of a household environment as well as cooking for multiple people. I am very willing to help with the cleaning, the washing, and any other household duties that you require help with. I am very willing to learn!
