Hello
My name is Laura. I am 18 years old and would love to become a social worker. I love helping people but its children who I want to help. I am going back into education in September to start my journey to achieving this. For the last year I was a nanny for a doctor then due to moving to Norfolk, I then became a Nursery assistant. My circumstances have changed now which meant I had to leave that job which is why I am looking for other work and something that will fit my lifestyle better. Since I was 14 I have done so much babysitting and child-minding and as I have got older the experience I have gained and new responsibilities I have had have all expanded too! I've loved every minute of it so far. My age can sometimes be of concern but I can ensure you that I am mature, trustworthy and reliable. I can provide references and have been DBS checked and that is all clean. The things I have had to do in the past are: put the children to bed and give them a bath, pick and drop them of at school, help with there school work, do over night stays, cook their dinner, take them on day trips or assist their families on a day trip and so much more! I always meet my responsibilities but also incorporate as much fun as I can into. I feel it is vital to have a good rappour with the family and I always enjoy building a relationship with the children.
I must add that I can start as soon as possible but will only be available for a permanent position during July and August then evenings and weekend when I am at college however I will know more once I know my hours at college. Also I do hold a full UK driving licence but am still saving for a little car. My understanding is that you are based in Norwich in which case I will be commuting by train or bus.
I feel I have had a lot of experience with children for my age. This has included babysitting since I was 14. Then as I have got older I have had the opportunity of expanding that experience by having more responsibility added when I babysat such as bathing and cooking for the children. I then when I was 17 played a nanny type role for a doctor. this included: dropping and picking the children up from school, cooking their dinner, bathing them, putting them to bed, household duties, weekend care, day trips for example taking them to the cinema and helping them with there homework. There was four children in my care at the time and there ages were twins of age 4, a 7 year old and a 15 year old. I then moved to Norfolk and got a job as a Nursery Assistant. I have worked with children from as little as 6months right up to age 15. I love how everyday is different and I feel it is something that comes natural to me. I might just add I also have experience with special needs children. I was able to volunteer as part as my Health and social care course and this was working with extreme and mild Autism. I have also helped and assisted with children and young adults who have physical and learning difficulties as well. In the future I would love to become a social worker and will start to work towards that starting this September. Ever since I was little and watched the first episode of Tracy Beaker I knew that I wanted to just make a difference to people's lives especially vulnerable people but children in particular because I've always been around them and feel that they can be helped and be given a good second chance in life.
Kind regards
Laura
p.s I am English but the application asked about a language so it may say I'm a beginner but just to state that would be an error.
Occasional babysitting | $6.00 per hour |
Home nanny | $8.00 per hour |
I'm really happy to negotiate rates because it will depend on location and the hours I am working. However I am only 18 so I wont be charging a lot because minimum wage is about £5 but if I'm full time I can stay low but if I do fewer hours then I may have to charge a little extra just to cover my fuel or transport fee.
