I am an experienced and passionate Early Years Practitioner committed to continuing to develop my career. Currently, I am seeking to resume my career after finishing my Childhood Studies degree in the University College Birmingham where I gained skills, knowledge and experience in several modules including Child Development, Play and Creativity and Children Health and Wellbeing. I did two years of placement, one year in a nursery and one year in a primary school. Moreover, I have one year of experience working as a teaching assistant in different primary schools, in pre-school, KS1 and KS2, through an agency in Birmingham.
I supported children in groups or individually in Maths, English or PE lessons assisting the teacher during activities; also, I have supported children’s activities on my own as a Spanish teacher in after school sessions.
When providing support, I encourage individual children, including children with SEND, by rephrasing the questions or tasks instructions, modelling what the activity requires, for example, by going step by step with a child while doing a subtraction exercise. Likewise, I can also relate the content with their experience as a prompt for them to answer or giving a simplified explanation of the task or question. In groups, the needs are slightly different as I have to deal with children’s participation and contributions to the activities. For example, in my first placement, I used to work with groups and I encouraged children to work as a team and take turns, moreover, I also questioned individually to more reluctant pupils so they can express what their ideas or what they learned and participate in the group equally.
