Grace, nanny in Boxmoor HP1

Hello, my name is Grace. I am 21 years old and my family home is in Hemel Hempstead. During university term dates I live in Manchester, as I am a student currently studying an Early Years and Childhood studies degree. I hope to one day become a primary school teacher as I have a real interest in how each child develops in their own, special way and I would feel great joy in knowing that I played a part in their learning and development. I am looking for a childcare related role, as this is a something I am passionate about and it will be great experience for my future career. I am very flexible and available as soon as possible, as I am back from university for the whole summer.

I began my childcare studies at Watford college, where I achieved a Level 3 Extended Diploma. I then went on to work as a nursery assistant, providing care for children aged 1-6, in the nursery where I previously done work placement. Here, I passed a DBS check and was awarded with a Health and Safety certificate. I really loved this job and although it was challenging at times I got joy in watching each child develop in their own, unique way. For example, after many days of encouragement and demonstrations, one girl finally tied her shoes up on her own and I felt real pride. It was moments like that where I reflected on how fascinating and clever children are and just how much I enjoyed my job.

Furthermore, often when my neighbour had to start work early, I would help her daughter get ready for school and walk her there. Some of my duties included making her a healthy breakfast, listening to her read and sometimes helping her with homework. I brought fun into her mornings, for example I would make brushing her teeth energetic by dancing and singing her favourite songs and on the way to school we would play games such as eye spy. So, I have plenty of childcare experience despite only being 20 and I am very mature and responsible.

In addition to this, I am kind, enthusiastic and very patient. I have a genuine love of children and enjoy seeing them reach their full potential. Therefore, I believe I would be the ideal person for this type of job, as I have a genuine interest in children and would feel joy in supporting their play and learning.
