Hello.
I'm a 57 year old mother/grandmother.
I recently left my job as an SEN TEACHING ASSISTANT AT PRIMARY LEVEL 3 (Sept.'18) after over ten years, to look after my elderly Mother-in-law - who is now needing care at Care Home level (Alzheimer's).
I also worked as a PLAY LEADER during part of that time, organising play, and ran voluntary, evening, ECO and Craft groups for the pupils.
I'm into crafts; LOVE reading stories to kids ; I'm good for helping kids with homework as I spent years support-teaching Numeracy/Literature in class. I always tried to teach with a bit of fun and relaxation thrown in, as kids learn better when they're happy, and not worried about a subject.
I'm fine with cats, dogs and most creatures ..although large spiders aren't a favourite, I have handled them in the school environment, when we had zoo/pet visits to help relax the children (saying that, the kids really found it very funny, because my teeth could be heard chattering ) It broke the ice.
Qualities.
*I have a sense of humour.
*I'm compassionate.
*Respectful.
*Patient.
*I like kids and teach them/show respect runs both ways. I think a lot of children these days aren't shown that they are 'liked'.. just tolerated maybe, and it's not enough.
*I can cook.
*I'm adaptable.
*Level 3 teaching assistant. Literacy. IT. Numeracy.....Primary standards.
*Play Leader trained.
*Friendly.
*I don't mind getting my hands dirty.
