Hello, my name is Lorna.
I am a full time medical student at the University of Aberdeen.
I have just finished my exams and have 3 months of summer holidays where I am looking to get more experience with children as I would like to become a paediatrician.
During my training as a doctor I have gained more than just first aid knowledge, I have been working with patients in the hospital and in the university as part of my training. I'm intimately involved with a society named Teddy Bear Hospital where we go into primary 1 classes and talk to 4-5 year olds all about hospital and play games with them relating to medicine so that if they, or their family members, ever have to go into hospital they are not scared.
I would be happy to look after and care for children of any age.
Last year I volunteered in St Modan's High School in the Autistic Base. I supported children between 11-17 years old, and helped the children in their classes. I had an active role with the children's education and really felt that I had a large impact and met their needs. Therefore, I would also feel privileged to work with children with any sort of special needs or disability.
I am a bubbly, mature individual and I love spending time with children. I am fun and will play any games, help with homework or anything that is required of me.
I could think of no better way to spend my summer.
