To whom this may concern,
I have gained a broad understanding of the childcare industry built up from previous experience as well as my recent completion of a BA (Hons) Education and Childhood Studies Degree.
I have completed 140 hours of volunteer work with Mission Botswana in the 2015/2016 academic year. This involved working at a Resource Centre for the Blind in Mochudi, North of Botswana’s capital city, Gaborone. Approximately 80 visually impaired and disabled children aged from 3 to 16 attend this centre for rehabilitation, resourcing, personal development and promotion of education. As a result of travelling to Botswana, I have learnt that in order to teach children basic skills (for example mathematics) you do not necessarily need many resources. I am able to use my initiative to help children learn, for example whilst in Botswana I helped a young girl of 10 learn basic Math’s skills by using rocks in a car park to help her visualise adding and subtracting skills.
I am currently working at a pre-school with children aged 3-4, this is a full on busy role which I thoroughly enjoy! The children are always full of so much energy and providing fun and exciting activities for them to enjoy is what I love best!
I have worked as an After School Club Play Leader at a local primary school, helping to manage the different craft activities we were going to do. This is something which I thoroughly enjoy doing! I love to help children learn and develop through play as I believe children learn best when they are having fun. I love to carry out messy play activities for younger children to help develop their fine motor skills. I love working and engaging with children of all ages as every day is different and there are always new things to teach and learn.
I have completed a Level 3 Btec Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care and achieved Triple Distinction Star grade. I love to cook and bake, and recently I have completed my Level 3 CPD Course in Child Health and Nutrition. I also decided to research and write my Undergraduate Major Project in Child Nutrition as I am very passionate about providing children with healthy nutritious meals. I have also achieved 10 GCSE’s.
I have also been trained in: Safeguarding in Education, Paedeactric First Aid, Developing Reflective Practice through Peer Observations, FGM, Inclusion starts with ‘I’, Letters and Sounds for EYFS and Mathematical Challenge for the Environment.
I also hold a full UK driving license, and have 4 years driving experience.
Kind Regards,
Rachael Frances (21 years of age)
