As a student and now as a Teaching Assistant, I have a long standing interest in not only teaching, but the development of children as an entire subject; having previously been a mentor during my primary school years to reception intakes, and also to new-starts at high school. I find it interesting, and also a good source of free personal development to watch, guide and support children of all ages through both the good and difficult times that occur at school, but can also be carried from the home into school. Behavior, attitudes, moods and achievements all leave their mark on children, and can often affect their family, friends and classmates.
I have readily volunteered to attend training in the course of my career so far; during placements at College, my Apprenticeship and now as a full time Teaching Assistant to further my interest and development, as this makes my understanding of children’s’ behavior and learning needs more beneficial to both myself and the education system.
Having completed the pre-requisite training courses, I am always looking to attend other interesting and relevant courses. In between my daily work and training, I have taken on mentoring children with difficulties in my current position by choice, not as a duty. Without this extra attention, these children could continue to plateau or decline, and not be given chance to develop.
I am an outward going, forward thinking team player, who enjoys learning and finding new ways to encourage learning. I enjoy group activities, group social events in and out of work, cinema, theatre, music, and travel.
