Nicola, nanny in Ivybridge

Hello,
When I left school I started to work in shops/hospitality and then enjoyed several years working as a sole-charge nanny here and abroad. I received a 2:1 BA Honours degree in Primary Education with QTS in 2000, but didn’t work as a teacher as I began my own family and spent many years as a stay-at-home parent. When my children were young we also had the chance to live abroad for 3 years. I think all my travelling expeditions and cultural experiences have truly embedded my feelings of equality and fairness and living abroad has given me a real appreciation for England, especially when the sun is shining!

I love working with children, it is a great pleasure being part of someone’s growth and seeing their delight at having fun and learning new skills. I really enjoy all sorts of creativity, I sell cards and prints of my original work and my artistic abilities come in handy when working with children. A couple of years ago I ran an after-school art club for a term, until my children moved schools and travel and timing became an issue.

Regarding references, I have written references from my time as a nanny and a personal reference from a lady who worked as part of the team at Rookies pre-school, where I helped out during my daughter’s attendance when she was younger. Before the summer I completed all my training with Dame Hannah Rodger’s Trust, with the view of working there one day a week. I have a recent DBS certificate. I love to study and learn new things and I am just about to start an online course in anatomy and physiology. Ideally I would love a part-time job or a term-time job with children of any age.
