I am 19 years old and have spent my life wanting to do something that means I care for others - whether it is with animals, old people, disabled people or simply children.
I attended University to study Welsh from September last year until recently, as I knew that deep down I wanted to pursue a career where I was able to help people, and now intend to study Creative and Therapeutic Arts or Psychology with Counselling in University in September.
I used to babysit 2 to 4 children once a week for approx. 3 hours where I would normally clean the kitchen, help with homework (Maths, English and Welsh), read stories and play games with the children. I continue to babysit them occasionally, and have only stopped babysitting them so much as I moved away from the area when I went to university. I really enjoy looking after them and I am currently waiting for a reference from the children's mother. I currently look after a child who is 4 in Duffryn, taking her to and from nursery and doing the occasional 12 hour day looking after her. I will no longer be doing this is September as she will be going to school in Cardiff and her mum will be taking her.
Occasional babysitting | $6.50 per hour |
Home nanny | $5.50 per hour |
Because I have to include travel expenses when working out how much profit I will make, I have to charge over £4 an hour at least, because if I have to catch a bus, that could be £4 spent before it's even given to me.
I am charging a little less for full-time care because it makes it more affordable for parents who need their child to be looked after for a very long period of time.
Ii am willing to negotiate prices.
