I consider myself to be a professional mature vocational care worker with 27 years of experience who is of a pro-active nature. I have done many roles over the years and always committed to the booking I undertake. I genuinely care for the wellbeing and welfare of others. I am confident with any age from babies at the start of their life to people further on with theirs, believing empathy and compassion have no age limits. I process a focused attitude, patient, conscientious and extremely tidy. I am discreet, self-sufficient and flexible.
I have worked within formal and non-formal households and I am dedicated, hardworking nanny that is old school – someone to help instil values of fairness, compassion and fun into their child’s upbringing. I am culturally sensitive. I have traditional values on manners, setting boundaries and continuity in routines and believe my role is too lovingly and professionally provide support and help to parents of today in raising the next generation. I understand that each child will be different and require particular assistance to help them reach their potential. I believe in nurturing children’s unique selves by giving them space to pursue their own interests, to learn and explore the world around them, to think for themselves by encouraging them through patience and understanding to be self-reliant. All stimulating activities needed to engage and encourage the child’s development. I feel it is also important to make children feel valued. I believe that discipline is about guidance, being clear about expected standards of behaviour and having positive expectations.
Each child should be provided with the opportunity to rise, the opportunity to overcome and the opportunity to shine. Every child should be empowered. Helping to build the child’s confidence and self-esteem, improve social skills, develop communication skills and enhance attention and listening skills. Managing behaviours and teaching replacement behaviours, this promoting better and more functional communication. This encourages responsibility and old fashioned respect. I am someone with a passion for inspiring young minds. I respect children and encourage them to be independent thinkers and learners with core values and excellent manners set within a loving and nurturing environment. I believe working alongside the parents in being responsible for supporting their child’s growth, education, setting boundaries, teaching the importance of manners, social skills and discipline. With all children I think feel that it is important to be a companion and positive role model and work with the parents to help lovingly guide their children towards responsible adulthood one day.
As a Maternity Nanny, I think that with a gentle and nurturing and caring support in the first few weeks of a baby’s life can be a fantastic support system for new parents. I am not there to take over and distract the mother from the early bonding with her baby. I am not there to tell parents what do to. I am merely there to assist by helping parents enjoy those precious first weeks of their baby’s life. I feel it is very important to allow the interaction of siblings, if there are any, so Mum can maintain the attention to the older child/ren and they will get use to a new baby without any sibling rivalry. I understand the need for parents to enjoy family time and will make myself near invisible so that the parents can enjoy those moments when they are enthralled with their new baby in those early special moments.
