I am conscientious, adaptable and practical with good communication and people skills. I believe that I am a mature, responsible and hardworking person and demonstrate this by balancing my hobbies and social life alongside my commitment to achieve academically and as such I always strive to achieve the highest standard possible. I have just completed my degree in Classical studies at Manchester and am looking to pursue a career in counselling children from my home Swansea.
I have the ability to relate to a wide range of people, working alongside victims of crime at Cardiff Crown Court and supporting the youngest talent in my drama group(Dylan Thomas Youth). I am a confident and enthusiastic individual, who is always keen to learn and thrives on new experiences and opportunities.
I have been fortunate enough to go skiing as part of my schooling and while I can’t say I was a natural I appreciated the opportunity and enjoyment that it gave me. I also spent a week on a submarine, which was a unique experience which allowed me to develop my understanding and appreciation of the world around me
I am able to offer up an understanding of the nature and structure of families, recognising that the traditional nuclear family is not the only family type. I was raised predominately by a single mother for many years and also have step-siblings and step-father. I have had voluntary experience working with children and young people (Circus eruption). I also did my work experience in the witness support department in Cardiff crown court, supporting and helping people who were often under a lot of emotional stress explaining proceedings and again listening to them. This is also true of working in Abacus Nursery in Swansea, parents and children becoming distressed when having to leave and managing that in a way that both child and adult feel safe and comfortable.I also cared for and entertained the children, (some as young as 3 months to age 7+) Feeding, changing, reading to and caring for these children is something I thoroughly enjoy doing and have a real passion for working with children. I currently work part-time at Lush cosmetics and understand how to communicate and entertain children, I've also been volunteering with a youth drama group so can think of creative outlets and fun things to do with children.
