I have recently graduated from Liverpool John Moore’s University in Education and Early Years (BA) Hons. I have worked in a variety of organisations across a number of different roles whilst studying full time in university since my first year in LJMU. I am now looking for a full time career which will relate to my degree, challenging my skills and knowledge of early childhood development and help me to explore my ability to teach and develop the education of young children, and work for an established organisation. I secured my placement with St Joseph’s Nursery School, where I was able to experience the role of an early year’s nursery practitioner. From this placement, I was able to widen my practical experience working among a team of nursery practitioners and understand the daily structure and routine of day nurseries. I was given opportunities to look after small groups of children and carry out educational activities. I promoted a passion and love for learning through outdoor and indoor play activities, using my understanding of child development for 0-5 age groups. I assisted in preparing food meals and refreshments for the children, sterilising bottles and preparing baby milk. I kept records on individual children, including daily information about activities, meals served, and developmental appraisals. I linked my observations to the EYFS in which I could also use for future activities and lesson planning. I felt i effectively promoted the curriculum for preschool age children. My overall work experience at St Joseph’s Nursery School helped me develop a genuine and natural love for teaching and learning, and supporting children’s development with sensitivity to every child and their own unique needs.
