Car owner with full clean UK driving licence / Ofsted registration available / DBS check / paediatric first aid / special needs experience / psychology degree
I have worked in childcare for over 13 years, in a variety of settings, gaining a wide range of experience. I am happy to provide my CV, certificates and references. I am looking for a part-time employed weekday nanny position. About 30-35 hours a week, over 3 or 4 days. It could be working for 1 family or 2 families on separate days.
I'm available to work in St Albans/ Hemel Hempstead/ Berkhamsted/ Harpenden and surrounding areas. I would like a position where the youngest child isn't yet at school and where I can bring my own baby (aged 6+ months) at least some of the time with me. I am unable to work for families with pets, due to allergies.
As a nanny I’m passionate about getting children out and about to new places and experiences. I take them to groups, play dates, museums, the zoo, playgrounds etc. This led me to write online about local events and activities for children. I support all areas of children’s development from nap routines to potty training and then homework. I encourage independence and good behaviour and intervene when disagreements arise. I organise the children’s routines and engage them in different activities. Including arts and craft, messy play, games and imaginative play. Reading is important for children of all ages, so I always make regular trips to the library to select new books. I use baby sign language/Makaton to aid early communication. I cook meals, shop, run errands and do light housework for families.
Now becoming a parent myself, I have gained experience with the newborn stage of childcare. By bringing my baby to your house, I can provide a playmate for your child / children who they can socialise with. My baby loves to watch other people and is happy being busy. He’s not yet in a set routine, so we can fit into yours.
Previously I worked at a nursery for 8 years part-time, caring for and educating babies to pre-schoolers. The nursery also used to have an after-school club for primary school aged children. When the nursery cook was away, I often stepped in to make home-made organic meals for the children. Over the years I worked with hundreds of families and gained a lot of experience.
I worked for a year in a reception class as a learning support assistant to a 5-year-old with ADHD and attachment difficulties. I supported his behavioural needs, as well as assisting the rest of the class. My work in the school and nursery has made me very familiar with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), which covers children’s development from birth to 5 years. Every day at the school I led a phonics group, heard children read and assisted with all areas of the curriculum.
I am a psychology graduate and while at university I selected The Psychology of Childhood as one of my final year units, and looked at aspects of autism in my dissertation. I have worked as a mother’s help for a family where the eldest child has cerebral palsy, visual impairments and learning difficulties. In the past I worked as a play worker for the charity KIDS, at an adventure playground for disabled children, aged 0 to 19 years old, and their families. I also worked at their youth club, which provided 1:1 for disabled teenagers.
