My name is Alex, I'm 18 and am looking for work in childcare specifically as a full time/par time nanny- babysitting work would be considered depending on the consistency of the hours.
I've now come to the end of my NVQ Level 3 Child Care and Education course where I have gained experience from various different childcare settings, including primary schools, preschools and nurseries with the ages of the children ranging from 6 weeks to 6 years old. During my time at these placements I have gained knowledge and understanding about the different ages and how to give each child the best possible outcome by understanding their individual needs and how to support them. I've thoroughly enjoyed working in these settings and have received positive and encouraging feedback from my supervisors.
As well as experiencing childcare settings, I also have previous and ongoing experience with looking after children in their own home environment by working with 2 different familes in the last year where I have gained experience with twins. Throughout my time with both of the families I have been expected to do many different everyday tasks such as getting the children to sleep ready for bed or nap times, getting the children out of bed when I stay overnight at the house, preparing and feeding breakfast, lunch and sometimes dinner and helping with the weaning process, dressing the children, doing nappy changes and bath times, promoting development through tummy time, sensory play and other enjoyable activities such as reading stories and singing songs and outdoor play by taking trips to the local park.
I have especially enjoyed working with families and their children as it allows you to give the children all of your attention and care which gives you more of a chance to form a strong and trusting attachment/bond which is not only key in their development, but also very rewarding.
