I have always wanted to work with children. I have worked with children in many different work aspects. In high school I worked in
a local primary for a week. I have volunteered at local brownies, all girls social group, after being involved in guides. Being a
young leader at brownies involves looking after girls aged 9-11. This means involving them in themed evenings which I shall
organise, different games for them and learning initiatives for them to leave the evening with new information. Of the activities I
have been involved in my main one has been football. I have played since High school, where I was part of my first team. This
helped me gain my first experiences of team work and gaining experiences of entering competitions. To gain experience at
coaching I took up two different football clubs, mini kickers, ages 3-5 and also Hibs under 9 girls. In mini kickers this gave me a
experience of children just starting out with football. This one is coached in a fun, learning manner, to help the kids find it easier to
pick up and improve on. In comparison, at hibs girls it involves a different coaching method and helps them progress on skills
picked up over the years. But you also still have the ones just starting out to help. I went on to gain my level 1: early touches SFA
badge for coaching young children. I proceeded to follow my early years career path and became a practitioner in a private
nursery, doing my qualification. During this time I learnt key skills in teamwork, managing time with the children and paperwork
time and also communication skills with parents. This ranged from daily records to parent consoltations for children whom I was
their keyworker for. I travelled to Canada where I was an au pair. This involved caring for 3 children on my own over the course of
3 months. I gained life skills as well as career driven skills through care of the children. This involved feeding them and coming up
with daily activities as well as making sure the children's needs were appropriately met. I have also completed my SVQ level 3 in
childcare and I am ready to progress and develop more skills in my childcare career. Over the course of doing this qualification
within work, I have learned and developed to make who I am and be driven to succeed and provide the best environment . In my
current role as Pupil support assistant at Ferryhill Primary, I am enjoying working closely with the curriculum. I have enjoyed being
able to work with a range of different areas from one to one within the nursery to further up the school. Within the nursery when
they require assistance in a specific area I am always willing to step in and work alongside the team. I work one to one with a child
in the nursery. During the course of the morning we will partake in a now and next timetable, this involves such things as
playdough, gluing and puzzles. With these, the child likes to do numbers and the alphabet so I listen to what he wants to do and
encourage him to try first and I am always there for the support. I know his likes and dislikes and have built a strong relationship to
help him enjoy nursery. While working with him I have been required to work alongside healthcare specialists to aid his
development. The team and myself use communication skills to aid areas that need assistance or I may need an area to work with
my specific child. With my Practitioner work, support work and also working within a playscheme in the holidays for children with
special needs. I bring with me varied experience from over the years and ready to apply myself to the position.
