Teresa, nanny - PL2 Plymouth

Hello my name is Teresa and I have been looking after children professionally for three years now, but was a casual babysitter before that. I have experience with children from birth to eleven years. I am passionate about my job and am very dedicated to the children I look after. To me being a nanny is more than just a job, it is a privilege. There is nothing better than knowing that your job is worthwhile and what could be more meaning than helping children grow and develop, especially in the early years of their lives! Being able to share in a child's life as they reach each milestone, and knowing that even in a very small way I had a part in that, is a great privilege indeed.

I know that finding a nanny for your children can be one of the hardest decisions you as a parent makes, but as your nanny I would be here to support you all the way. Parents know me to be kind-hearted, easy-going, reliable, considerate and collective. Children know me to be loving, enthusiastic, fun, positive, creative, a good listener and a welcome addition to their family. I pride myself in knowing that every child in my care feels loved and looks forward to my next visit!

As a Catholic I believe in treating every one with equal dignity, though it may be in different ways. I understand that every child is different and that every child responds to different stimuli in their own unique way. As a nanny I get to know your child's needs and can plan activities that are best suited to them. I love to find new things for them to do that I know they will both enjoy and will help them learn. I love to take the children for days out; either walks, to the pack, to play-groups, for picnics or other trips. I also know that every child values a bit of quiet time where they can relax and cuddle and I love to read stories and sing songs and encourage their imagination.

I am currently working as a nanny for a lovely family (of six children) in Plymouth. However they have recently had a change in circumstances and have had to let me go so I am now working my notice. The children I look after are always excited when I get to their home, the two youngest are very fond of me particularly and will always come and ask for cuddles, and they will all talk about me when I am not there. I believe it is important that the children understand boundaries so I am always firm and fair and use the same behaviour management as the parents. I believe consistency is the key so will always support and encourage what the parents do.

I am looking for a warm welcoming family who are looking for a nanny to help bring their children up in a familiar environment to ensure the best care and development of their children. I care deeply about your children's well being and education and hope that I can help them to develop their creativity and inquisitiveness to the full. I want to help ensure every child develops in a happy, secure and stimulating environment.

I have been a nanny for my current employer since September 2015. I look after six children - the youngest just turned one and the oldest eleven years old. So I am used to having my hands full! I previously worked in London as a Mother's help for a family of four children; two of them under three. Also in London, I worked as a Childminders assistant looking after up to eleven children at a time between the ages of one month and six years. Before that I worked in a Plymouth children's day nursery and after school club with children from 3 months to 9 years.

My roles have included taking toddlers to playgroups and outings, putting children to bed for their naps, preparing and supervising their meal times and snacks, preparing creative and exploratory activities, one-to-one play time, song and dance play time, observing children's development, taking care of daily hygiene needs, before and after school drop-off and pick-up, helping with homework or other activities from school, supervising garden play time, reading at quiet time, keeping in touch with parents daily and making sure children keep the same routine as they have with their parents.
