I am Jessie and I will be graduating from the University of Roehampton with a BA in Early Childhood and Education in July. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at university, learning about children's development and the many ways in which they learn. I am now ready to move on and gain more hands-on experience in different areas.
I began babysitting regularly for local families and volunteering in primary schools at the age of fifteen. From this I learnt how much I enjoyed working in an early years environment and with young children in general.
Since then I have successfully completed a wide range of childcare based placements, including working at a Forest School where I developed my understanding of the importance of children experiencing the outdoors. It was also particularly enjoyable for me as I grew up in the countryside and have both a love and passion for the outdoors.
I am currently volunteering at a library in London where I help organise and take part in the Under 5s song and rhyme sessions. I interact with infants and young children reading books, using puppets and dancing. I also help with the art and craft sessions where I use my creative skills and draw upon my experience from studying art and textiles at GCSE and A Level. In these sessions we make bird nests, floating aliens, Christmas decorations and much more out of simple, resourceful materials!
I am enthusiastic about becoming a live-out nanny as I am a mature, responsible, reliable and creative person and feel confident that my interpersonal skills and extensive experience in childcare would help me care for your child(ren). I find all children fascinating and am mindful of individual children's needs. I love playing and going for walks with children, would be happy to help with primary school level homework and really enjoy cooking healthy and delicious meals. I enjoy thinking up fun and educational activities to teach and develop social, emotional and physical skills.
I have an up-to-date CRB check and would be happy to supply references from places I have worked and volunteered at in the past. I believe children should feel that it is okay to make mistakes but that they are respectful, understanding of and patient with others.
