Having worked for Camp America this summer and having such an amazing experience, I am now certain I'd like to work in childcare. I love working with children- the energy and enthusiasm that they have is so motivating and it's one of the most rewarding things knowing that you have made someone smile or been a part of what has been a wonderful experience for them.
I would describe myself as an outgoing person, who is always willing to help out and complete my job to the best of my ability. I enjoy keeping busy and being in an active environment where I can feel involved in my work. I also love to cook, bake, and have fun outdoors- whatever the weather!
I have a vast amount of work experience in a childcare setting. This includes working at an after school club at a primary school where we would arrange activities for children aged 4-11 to take part in while their parents were still working. This could range from a variety of different sports to arts and crafts. It was always fun getting involved in these activities as I could see that the more enthusiasm I put into it, the more motivated and focussed the children would be. During my gap year after the completion of my A-levels, I worked as a nanny for two different families with children aged 2, 4, 6 and 8. These jobs were incredibly rewarding, I learned how to deal with unexpected situations, and also how to build special relationships over time, its incredible to see the difference in a child that may seem shy and nervous at first, yet over time you see more and more of their personality shine through as they learn to love and trust you. I then went on to work for seven weeks at Camp America. The job I had there involved teaching swimming as well as working as a lifeguard for children ages 7-15. This job was very rewarding- as a swim instructor it was great to see the progress the children made over the summer, and their determination to be able to perfect a new skill made each lesson enjoyable.
Overall I belive that the experience that I have gained over the years will have prepared me well for further work in childcare. I would make sure I put my all into the my job so that when it comes to the end of the day I can be happy knowing I've done my best to ensure that the children have enjoyed themselves and had fun.
