Nursery Nurse
As a person and professional, I would describe myself as a caring, approachable and respectful individual. I currently work in a Private Day Nursery four days a week and have been part of the team for over two years; I have worked with all ages but I have spent the majority of time in toddler room; caring for children between the ages of two and three. I have recently been moved into the baby room and now have five key children. I work well in a team as I possess healthy professional relationships with all team members and parents/carers. I have had many different experiences of working in a multi-agency team as I work alongside speech and language therapists, pre school support and health visitors to help the children in my care progress and develop to their full potential. To provide the best care for the children in my care I respect individuality, diversity and provide equal opportunities to all children and their families. For two years I studied CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Child Care at Chesterfield College and I qualified with an A grade; since graduating I have gained many other qualifications and completed a variety of courses.
After qualifying from Chesterfield College, I began supply work in July, two weeks before the summer holidays. After being supply for five months, I then got offered a years contract which then got promoted to a permanent contract. Throughout the day I plan and provide specific activities and experiences for children using the medium term plan and the children's interest. Whilst in toddler room I had nine key children but now I have moved into babies I currently have five key children which includes observing and monitoring their progress through an online system which is shared with the parents. I carry out child stories every three months which is a lengthy report on how each of my key children are settling in, progressing and their day to day experience during their time in the setting. Through my observations and child stories I will track children's development and if I feel they need extra support I will provide more one to one activities, carry out a child monitoring tool and share this with our on site Pre School support. In addition, I am First Aid trained and perform First Aid on all children, I then use body maps and an accident book to describe what has happened. I possess healthy relationships with all parents/careers and I am approached with confidence by all, showing they trust me and rely on me when the seek advice or to share information. Furthermore, I carry out regular cleaning duties such as sterilising the toys and other hygiene routines. I will also provide breakfast and snack to the children in my care taking into consideration their dietary and cultural needs as I possess a good hygiene certificate.
In my current line of work I possess extra curriculum and certificates as I have undergone online courses, and courses within the setting, including Pediatric First Aid, Radicalisation, FGM and safeguarding.
Although I really enjoy my current job I have always wanted to become a nanny as I would like to work one to one with the children and understand and meet all their needs and make their day to day life as enjoyable as possible. I would like to form strong bonds with the family and discuss how their child has been etc at the end of the day.
