Hi there my name is Drew, I'm 27 and live in London, Merton working as a Learning Support Assistant in a Primary School to children in KS1. As the summer holidays are approaching I'm looking for some additional child care work before the new academic year begins. At my current job I work closely with a small group of children with additional needs to raise their attainment level. I have found it very rewarding to work this way as I can build a better rapport with children and have a better understanding of their needs. Working in the classroom has developed my behaviour management skills and child friendly ways to communicate if there an obstacle a child wishes to overcome both socially, emotionally and academically. I enjoy giving a child a well rounded supervision to help nurture them including, reading, free play, sports, healthy eating, exposure to culture such as museums and listening to music. I have worked with variety of age groups over the past 2 years from early years in nursery to Year 5 pupils in Key Stage 2, however I am comfortable supporting children in Secondary school too . Around 5 years ago I worked as a nanny to a young boy during summer term and his holidays. I was responsible for collecting him from school, feeding him, helping him with homework, reading, playing board games and supervising him during bath time. I also took him to swimming lessons and occasional appointments organised by their parents such as haircuts. I have really fond memories of getting to know the child and respecting his individual needs as well as the parents expectation for their child. I believe with my experience I can provide great support for children and their family.
