I’m currently a student at the University of Sussex. I’m studying International Relations with a Foundation Year.
At my high school I was Peer Mentor captain, which meant I helped supervise and communicate with the younger children of the school. Having been a Girl Guide for five years and I then moved on to Senior Section. I was young leader at two guide units. I enjoy talking to people and have good communication skills.
I lived in a small community prior to coming to Sussex and often helped out at village events. This includes waitressing and being part of the team helping with the ‘Celebrating Blythburgh’ annual village event. I am a very committed person. I attended my sixth forms weekly debating society. I was chosen in 2015 to travel to Cambodia to volunteer at a school of under privileged children.
From September 2015 to July 2016 I volunteered at a Guide unit in Halesworth. Whilst leading activities and whole evenings on a regular bases, I also worked as a 1 to 1 assistant with a member of the unit who has extreme learning difficulties. This involved helping her complete the tasks at hand, and helping her get the most out of girl guiding.
Between 2010 and 2014 I volunteered at a summer club for children from disadvantaged backgrounds and with disabilities. I worked 8:00 until 4:30, 5 days a week for a total of five weeks. The position I had involved looking after the children and organising games and activities for them to take part in. This gave me a range of experience working with children with disabilities.
