I am a very patient, reliable, punctual and organised person who is able to work both well in groups and as an individual. Working as an individual best reflects exactly what I can do and show my skills, however, I feel my skills show through just as strongly in a group. Working in a group gives me communication and listening skills I need and use when talking and dealing with parents/children. I have updated my DBS every year, my most recent one done in August 2014.
I began looking after two boys aged 2 and 4, I found it especially rewarding when developing the children with learning and a daily routine to stick by. It was this that made me realise that childcare was something I wanted to do so I went to college and began my studying for childcare and education levels 2 and 3, during my studying I went to work experiences two times a week, I especially enjoyed working in a nursery attached to a school and realised pursuing a career within a school setting was my dream career. I learnt a great deal from putting up displays, planning activities to link each child to gaining my confidence in leading activities and tasks. I went on to work with children from 6months to 5 years during the 3 years of work experience.
After I went straight into a brand new nursery working with babies from 6 months to 2 years, there I did my behavioural, safeguarding, health and safety training. Being only two people in the room, I relished the days I was able to lead the room.
I started my second job in August 2014 and here is where I learnt more in regards to paperwork, planning, the EYFS etc. I lead the pre-school room ages from 2-4 years. I relish the opportunities to come up with exciting activities to link each of my children’s development and feel as though they have progressed from this. I also had some experience for 4 months with the daily managerial tasks. I have my safeguarding level 1 and 2, updated paediatric first aid and Makaton training all within the year.
In September I will also be studying my Early year’s foundation degree.
