Hello families, I am looking foward to jumping back into the world of nannying. I worked as a nanny from March to June 2012 and had a bad experience, and have been working in a private nursery. I miss being a nanny so I am looking for the perfect family to put my faith back into my job. I am a positive, enthusiastic, energetic and organised and i think i would be the perfect addition to your family. Hope to hear from you soon xx
My experience...
College placements....
Throughout my two years of college I went to various placements, I have experience of looking after children from six months to eleven years within a structured setting.
I have attended these schools and nurseries as placements:
• Henry Bradley Nursery – Age 3-5 years
• Poolsbrook Primary – Age 3-7 years
• Treetops Nursery Barlborough - Age 6 months – 3 years
• Abercrombie Primary – Age 6 – 7 years
When I finished working at Abercrombie Primary School the Head teacher offered me the chance to volunteer at the school.
While I was at these placements I had many responsibilities such as:
• Helping to keep records on individual children.
• Teaching children about health and safety, such as toileting, brushing teeth, healthy foods, and their own and others safety.
• Reading to children.
• Caring for babies and toddlers by changing nappies, making up formula feeds and warming bottles, feeding babies appropriate food for their age and nurtured babies to sleep.
• Singing songs and dancing with them.
• I assisted in the organisation and smooth running of annual sports days and the Easter and Christmas concerts.
• Other responsibilities included assisting in preparing food for children and serving meals and refreshments to children and organizing and storing toys and materials to ensure order in activity areas.
• I came across many children with behavioural and learning difficulties, I shadowed a 3 year old child with suspected autism, I worked in a class with a 7 year old boy with quite severe autism and have worked with many children with ADHD.
When on these placements I also learnt a lot about handling children’s behaviour according to their age, ability and also children with varied degrees of mental and health capabilities.
Nanny work...
I worked with three boys aged 5, 6 and 8. The five year old and the eight year old both had severe behavioural and sensory difficulties. The six year old had severe autism, which also left him unable to speak. My role was to get the boys ready for school and walk them to the bus stop. I then tidied the house and prepared their dinner for when they got home. I was responsible for entertaining them and ensuring they did their homework. I worked with their tutor, following a programme to ensure the boys had consistency in their routine. I learnt some sign language to enable me to communicate better with the 6 year old. I’m proud to say that during my time with him both his speech and sign language improved dramatically. I also implemented a reward system for the two other boys which resulted in an improvement in their behaviour.
Currently....
I am currently working as nursery nurse in a private nursery, and although I love my job I feel I am best suited to a job as a nanny. I am responsible for all parts of their day to day care and take care of their progress in the EYFS and fill in a profile relating to this. I am happy to do he same for any child I nanny for.
