Katie-beth, occasional childcare in Edinburgh EH3

My name is Katie-Beth and I am a 22 year-old student entering the final year of my degree (MA Theology) at the University of Edinburgh. I'm looking for childcare work alongside my studies because I love working with children and believe I have a lot to offer in this line of work.

Having attended church my whole life I got involved in children's work very early on, and quickly got involved in babysitting for several families (including full-day and overnight work). I am friendly and outgoing, which has helped me to thoroughly enjoy my time volunteering in toddler groups, creches and Sunday schools. Furthermore, I have a close relationship with a charity which provides long-term foster care in Durban, South Africa. I have volunteered there, teaching, caring and organising holiday clubs for children from the ages of 1-17. Through this I have had the opportunity to work with a variety of children, including those with special needs and difficulty behaving.

Youth work is also a particular passion of mine, and during my gap year I interned for a large organisation that works specifically with young people. This enabled me to travel to New Zealand as a counsellor for a camp, as well as being involved in events for young people in the UK. Being involved in such events has meant I have received training and experience in safeguarding.

I achieved straight As at school, across a range of subjects, and continue to achieve firsts and high 2:1s throughout my degree. I would be more than happy to provide homework help and more in depth tutoring. My particular passions, aside from my academic work, are music and art. At school I attended week-long music courses, music lessons and participated in regular performances. Through Art I was able to have my work published in the Times Educational Supplement and an exhibition in Glasgow. I am a trained singer, and also play flute, guitar and some piano. A number of people have described me as having a natural ability with children. I'm patient, encouraging, interested and have a warm personality which makes me well suited to working with children.
