Dear parents,
my whole name is Denisa Fodorová. In order to introduce myself I should mention that I am 23 (born in 1991). I come from Slovakia and currently living in Worcester, UK.
Studying at a bilingual grammar school I achieved an advanced level of English so I might say that it is almost fluent now. I also took French. At the grammar school I remained 5 years. After I completed A-level exams I continued in my studies at university. I specialised in psychology. In June 2013 I finished the state exams and obtained the bachelor´s degree.
As for my hobbies I love reading, listening to music. I also like mountain hiking (I grew up in the place surrounded with the mountains) and travelling – I love exploring the new places, cultures, things to see ... And I like to learn more about everything what is new for me, I am that kind of person who goes to see the local museum just to get as much of the insight as possible.
During the time I´ve been at university I became interested in raising the children (I took the course of psychology of human development which inspired me).
Even though I wanted to work overseas for a long time it’s been only a year ago I made a decision to leave the university before having obtained master´s and became an au-pair in an Indian family. I hoped to become more fluent in English and experience a new culture.
So, at first I became a volunteer in our local nursery and got further experiences with younger children. I helped a nursery teacher in the mixed class which is attended by children from 3 to 6 years of age. In the nursery I regularly helped the youngest children with changing their clothes and feeding. Sometimes the comforting was needed too (especially before they went to sleep without having their favourite toy with them). Every day we went for a walk or to the nearby football stadium where we did activities which the kids mostly enjoyed. The nursery teacher and I looked after them while making them busy and amused all the time. Although it wasn’t always easy I think that we have become pretty good friends.
In September 2013 I arrived at Birmingham and started working as an au-pair. My duties included getting children ready for school and nursery, dropping and picking them from school/nursery, cooking some light meal, babysitting and giving a bath to a younger boy who is now 4 year old.
That is all from me this time. In case of your further interests I will be more than happy to answer your questions and concerns. I am looking forward to your response even by e-mail or telephone.
Regards,
Denisa Fodorová
