Presentation

I am a British-French (bilingual) recent graduate interested in big cats, baking and history.

I am looking for care opportunities where I can care for children for several hours per week or simply on an occasional basis, such as evening babysitting. In any case I can speak to your children in English and/or French.

I very much enjoy interacting with children, as frankly they are the most heart-warming, interesting and funny people! I am more than happy to spend hours helping your children to practise for their school plays or listening to their fascinating imaginary friend stories.

As an older sister and having started babysitting at the age of fourteen I have seen many children grow up, going from crying babies to curious primary school children. Therefore, I am used to the various needs of different families and can adapt my approach (activities, discipline, care, language) to different ages.

When looking after children during the day or in the evening I take a participative approach to supervision, rather than a stern "watching over" stance. Below are the things that my looking after your children would typically involve:

~ Homework
I will stay with them whilst they do their homework, offering support when necessary. I believe that it is important for them to understand their work, so I will always help but never do the homework for them.

~ Food
I can make or prepare food for your children if that is your wish. I will always check with you before giving them any of my own food.

~ Activities
I particularly enjoy reading, board games, role play/pretend and charades, however I am happy to play almost anything with your children, as long as no one will get seriously hurt! I personally have a penchant for games that encourage children to think and express themselves. My favourite children's television programmes are Horrible History and My Little Pony - the latter was introduced to me by one of my oldest babysittees! Unfortunately, I am terrible at video games...

~ Bedtime
I like to read a story (or two, or three...) to children before they sleep, after I had ensured that they have brushed their teeth and have any water, teddies, or other necessities that they need for the night. I will always do my very best to get them in bed on time (and with the least tears) and wait until I am sure that they are settled before going back downstairs.

Explanation:

- I started babysitting for family friends that then recommended me to other people, some of whom I still babysit for, which is one of the main reasons why I believe that I provide very good child care that is appreciated by both parents and their children.

- I make a conscious effort to spend valuable time with the children that I look after. It is important to me to engage with them, discuss their interests and academic studies, listen to their needs (and wants!), and do the necessary for them whilst at home. Put simply, I do not content myself with just sitting in front of the TV as they remain unsupervised in the house.
