My enquiry is on behalf of a young mum who sustained an acquired brain injury at the age of 14, in 2009.
She has two young children of her own to her partner 3.5 years and 2. There are two older children 7 and 12 from partners previous relationship that spend 50% of the time or more with dad and my client.
Post ABI life can be challenging and at times chaotic. Young children add to this 10 fold and whilst my client is a great mum on many levels establishing and maintaining routine and structure is difficult as it is for herself. Her own sleep pattern is irregular which does have an impact on setting and sticking with an evening routine and bedtime. She does enjoy reading her youngest a bedtime story but getting the children in and staying in bed is not easy. having someone to assit with the afternoon evening bedtime routine would help her have time for herself whilst ensuring consistency for the children. Mum can then spend that time and her limited energy doing the bedtime story etc.
Someone that can be trusted, understanding and none judgemental. Able to offer in addition time later on a night to enable my client and partner time to romance and date again. Another aspect of life post children that is difficult for us all to balance.
