A continual passion for art led me to complete in 2014 an undergraduate honors degree in fine art, achieving a 2:1. During my degree I was provided with opportunities to specialise in child art developing my knowledge and understanding of why creativity is key for all children in facilitating an effective learning environment. Throughout university I volunteered at Gladstone Road Primary School in both Reception and Year 1. I was able to utilise the creative skills I was learning at university in the classroom to enhance the children's learning. For the second and third year at university I specialised in childlike art and the use of child's aesthetics by artists. As a result, I had a greater understanding of the range of educational activities that would stimulate the children to learn and develop.
Throughout my degree I exhibited work in several art exhibitions around North Yorkshire; I also had the opportunity to exhibit in Amsterdam. Last year, I was invited to exhibit work at St James Art Gallery, during open studios. Working at Coast Gallery, (a tearoom and a contemporary space for artists to exhibit and sell work) has also been a source of inspiration. I have a personal interest in the arts and history valuing the rich cultural/historical opportunities provided by the theatre, local museums and the castle in my hometown of Scarborough. I often go to art workshops to learn or build on an art technique/techniques, which I can utilise in the classroom and deliver opportunities to the children of learning new skills that they may not have the chance to learn. I have also had experience of been an art assistant during art workshops. The workshops were for the 3-7 year olds and I knew at this stage that working with children was a career I felt inspired to persue.
My desire to impart knowledge and a passion for educating children led me to embark on the PGCE in the early years at University Hull, Scarborough Campus. Excellent education is, in my belief, the single most important thing we can pass on to the younger generation. At the start of the 2014 academic school year I volunteered in a Reception class; it was most interesting to see the transition of the children from Nursery into an EYFS setting. During my spring placement at Paull Primary School I taught a mixed age class ranging from Nursery to Year 2. I had the opportunity to enhance and provide an environment that children would love, whilst at the same time, stimulate learning. I have four weeks left at my summer placement where I am at the moment teaching a reception class at Thornton dale primary school. On the 26th June I will receive my qualified teacher status however I now know that my heart is with perusing nannying. It is something I have always wanted to do however knew how few and far between nanny jobs were, having seen this wonderful opportunity of been a nanny I am so excited at the prospect of been able to persue something I have always wanted but never thought would happen. I am looking for any nannying jobs whether that be full time or part time. I have had experience working with young children as well as other things such as household jobs for example laundry; cooking; cleaning which I have done at Dulverton Hall for 9 years. I am as I am sure you have realised creative and musical so would love to inspire children with been creative and possibly teaching them piano. I hope I have given you all the information you need and would love to hear from you.
