My name is Kyra , I am 20 years old and just recently qualified as a childcare Practitioner in June of this year. Throughout studying both my NC in early education and childcare and my HNC childhood studies courses I had the experience of working with children between the ages of 3-5 years in three different settings. I had the experience of familiarising myself with the way different settings work and working in different ways with the children. I carried out planned play experiences within my placement settings for the children bringing new ideas in to these settings and also learning new things from being within these settings. I carried out observations of the children as well, observing their age and stages of development. I had the advantage of working with 3-5 years for the majority of my placement time although had the opportunity to work with 2-3 years from September-December. Working with these age groups was always very exciting, challenging but something I certainly enjoyed and as a student, having this opportunity made me realise even more how much I want to work within this job sector. I loved observing all of the different children's age and stages of development and supporting the children within their learning opportunities to the best of my abilities. I always take in to account the best interests of the child sticking to child centred practice within the setting and this was something I thought was fantastic and enhanced the children's learning huge amounts when they were involved in something they had told me they loved or I had observed that they had a particular interest in. For me, seeing the children grow and flourish in to the most amazing little people throughout the ages from 2-5 years and setting the children up ready for school really was a special thing for me and to be able to support these children on their learning journey and enhance their learning to the best of their abilities and ensure they are being guaranteed to have the best learning experience they possibly can is what it is all about.
This experience is something I would be extremely keen to bring in to a nannying/babysitting job to support families and help support their children in the best possible ways, caring for and ensuring the children feel safe, confident and happy in my company and that I am meeting each individual child's needs.
