Hello,
Thank you for looking at my advert! I'm currently looking for full time or part time work as a nanny in Aberdeen.
My experience varies but is summed up as follows,
Working at a nursery and school during my placements as part of my education degree.
Working as a nanny for a family last year.
Babysitting duties for several families during my teenage years.
Volunteering as a brownie leader.
Taking part in volunteering as help in primary schools (including a special needs school)
During my primary teaching degree, i learnt a lot about the developmental needs of children, for example, they way they learn and develop socially, physically, emotionally and other mental skills. As well as this, i took part in placements in nursery settings, as well as a longer 6 week block in primary 1. I organised and carried out lessons in a variety of subjects. My favourites were gym, art, maths and stories. During my degree i learnt the necessary professional skills and attributes needed to be a successful and intellectual teacher of young people, as well as this, skills needed to observe and process a child's personal development stages. I also have an extensive knowledge of the Curriculum of Excellence and its principles and purposes that are carried out schools.
During my time as a nanny, i learnt how to look after smaller children and meet their personal wants and needs. Furthermore, i was able to utilise the skills i learnt at university with regards to how to encourage and support them, as well as promote their skills and development new ones. As i am an energetic person, i loved to organise games and activities inside and outside the family home. For example, treasure hunts, fort building, finger/hand painting, playing educational games, story time, games in the garden, making play dough, sensory play, baking, playing in the snow, trips to the farm, library, soft play, and the park. I also prepared nutritious meals and snacks, took them to and from nursery, bathed and dressed them, tidied up after them, supervised baths, changed nappies, occasionally stayed over-night, and ensured they stayed safe and healthy. I learnt a lot of beneficial skills throughout this time, for example tolerance and patients, communication skills (with the parents), confidentiality, and being caring and understanding. I really enjoyed this job as i was able to express my creativity and imagination, and stimulate my caring and friendly nature.
