Mandy, professional childminder - ME12 Minster

Hello. I am Mandy and I run a childminding service in the Isle of Sheppey.
I have been working with children since I left school 18 years ago. Working with children is a very rewarding role. I love seeing children become independent and confident, developing skills and achieving self set goals and challenges. I believe all children are individuals and learn in their own ways, and that learning through play and experiencing new things are the best foundations for early education. I have studied Early Years up to honours degree level and have looked after many children, from tiny babies to teens, over the years in a variety of environments such as in a reception class as part of my nursery nursing training, in a day nursery and in a preschool.
At my childminding setting, the children have many opportunities to explore, play, get messy, be loud, have quiet times, visit local areas of interest, play with other children at our childminder meet ups, but also have the comforts of the home.
I follow the statutory Early Years Foundation Stage but ensure it is child led rather than curriculum based. This enables me to plan activities directly from the children's interests and their motivations. The fees I charge are all inclusive of food, drinks, snacks and event entry.
I operate an open house policy where families who are interested in using my services can come and meet us and join in with our daily activities.
I am an eligible childminder, which means I can offer the governments 15 hours of free early education to 2, 3 and 4 year olds.
