I work from my home with my husband as my assistant. I have been childminding since September 2002 and have 2 daughters of my own
Every child that comes to us is treated as one of the family, we are a home from home environment, the children do the sorts of things with us that they would do with their parents, we take them out to various places ( parks, museums, national trust houses, toddlers, soft play, farms, shops, cafes, garden centres, beaches etc etc) or just a stroll down the lanes and when we are home we rotate toys every few days and children choose what they want to play with, we also do a few adult led activities like making cards, arts and crafts, cooking etc
The children usually have snack at about 9.30/10 , lunch at 12/12.30 and afternoon snack at 3.30/4
All food / drink is provided by the parents. fruit can be provided by us for morning snack if desired and water is available at all times.
We follow children 0-5 yrs progress using Early years foundation stages which is government led in which we record your child's progress in a learning journey folder using observations and photos and next steps which is always available for you to look at. We encourage you to tell us about what you observe at home also by using a home contact book, it all sounds a bit official I know but it has now become law for us to do all the paperwork ( it's really not as bad as it sounds ?) my main priority is that all children feel happy and safe in our care.
