I'm Kristie, I'm 17 years old. I have a qualification in child development which I did at secondary school and I have nearly completed my first year of level 3 child care at Burton College. At school I got 8 C grades and 2 B grades including a grade C in English, Maths and Science. Once completing my course next year, I am hoping to complete a Foundation Degree in Early Childhood studies. I really enjoy working with children and have a lot of experience with different age ranges. From a young age I have really enjoyed working with children, especially my cousins who are between ages 5 months and 8 years old, who I still regularly look after. I also have an occasional babysitting job, the child is now 20 months old and I have been looking after since she was 12 months old. As part of my college course I undertake different placements. For the first four months of my placement I worked in a nursery, mainly in the pre-school room (3-4 years) but sometimes in the baby and toddler room (6 months-2 years). I really enjoyed this placement and I am currently working in a Primary school with a reception class. Working in the school has taught me a lot about child's learning and development and the different skills children are taught. When i finish college for summer (4th July) I am hoping to carry on working with children such as by babysitting or possibly being an au pair/nanny. When I go back to college in September I will still be available for evening/weekend babysitting and in the school holidays and I will also be working in another nursery within the baby room.
