I am a 3rd year student at the University of Chester studying BA Hons English Language and Psychology. Once I have graduated, I plan to study a PGCE and become a Primary School teacher. Whilst studying, I would like to continue to build on my experiences of working with children. I have always loved working with children and have experience in various roles in schools, including as a year 3 teaching assistant, a play-leader and a worked a placement in a special needs school.
During my gap year before university, I gained a role as a teaching assistant in a year 3 class. My roles included assisting the teacher with various tasks, supervising during lunch time, working with special needs children, being responsible for groups of children on school trips and occasionally managing the entire class in the teacher's absence. As well as this, I was expected to support groups of children who have particular individual needs during lessons and read stories to the class.
I have had roles as a Playleader in two different after school and holiday clubs. These are clubs for children aged 4-11. My responsibilities include general minding of the children, organising and conducting art/craft activities etc. I am also required to promote safe play and good manners.
I have had evening babysitting jobs since the age of 15, caring for children aged 3-14 and have experience babysitting special needs children.
