My primary income is, as a sole trader, with a small business. Helping you with your children is a bonus! What you can afford is exactly what I will accept, as understand how funds can often be very 'tight' when bringing up children. I brought my children up mostly working 2 jobs simultaneously and having reliable child care was a must.
Whether you need help with your children for work or leisure, the most important factor is not worrying when you leave. Hopefully, I can alleviate this.
