Rebecca, sitter in East kilbride

I am currently studying adult nursing at university, which I am coming to the end of my first year (June 2016). In this year I have developed my skills on the ward, communication skills and working well as an individual and as part of a team.
While I am away from uni and in my spare time I volunteer with young adults and children in mainstream and additional support need activities. I currently volunteer with a range of children and young adults who have additional support needs, the needs of the individuals can range from cognitive impairment’s to physical disabilities. The activities that I guide and support the individuals through is a variety recreational sports and music therapy, within this agency I continue to develop my communication skills both verbally and non verbally, as many of the service users rely on communication aids such as pecs, Makaton and BSL. I am also a volunteer withing two Rainbow units and a guide unit, within the East Kilbride area.
