My name is Danielle and I am 18 years old and leaving for university at the end of September. Growing up, I have always been surrounded by younger siblings. My youngest sibling is currently 11 months old and my oldest is 17 years old. I have 4 additional siblings to my youngest and eldest, they are aged: 4 years, 7 years, 9 years and 14 years old. I have babysat all of my siblings growing up, this involved playing games with them to keep them entertained, outside or inside depending on the weather, I'd watch tv with them, even if it is cartoons or CBeebies, until they were ready for bed and then I'd put them to bed at a suitable time. I was able to provide snacks and refreshments if need be and I am able to make some meals, however my cooking skills do not stretch too far but lunch time is doable. I am a bubbly and approachable person to be around and due to my experience with my siblings I think it has helped me to understand the needs and wants of a child and I think this would aid me when babysitting another child. I would regard myself as fun to be around as I don't take myself too seriously and I am not afraid to make a fool of myself to make the children laugh. I have a lot of patience and I would consider myself as a friendly person and trustworthy. Not only do I have experience with my siblings, but as part of my Duke of Edinburgh, I did voluntary work at my old primary schools after school club where I engaged with the children there and we played games and helped prepare some snacks for them. The children's age ranged from reception age to year 6. I volunteered for around 3-6 months.
