Petra, sitter in London

My name is Petra , I am 30 years old and I am a nurse. Before I started with my current job I used to work as an Au pair in London. Currently I look after an elderly man who suffers dementia and I am a housekeeper in his apartment in central London.
I started taking care of children many years ago. At the beginning I looked after my little nieces while their parents were out. I used to do babysitting and take care of my neighbour´s kid as my second job since he was 6 months old.. My tasks were to prepare food for them, play with them, go for walks and to put them to bed.
It is not always easy to take care of children but it is a great experience to spend some times with them. Working in a child‘s center with handicaped children/babies which I did at the beginning of my carrier strenghtened and developed one of my strongest characteristics-patience. I do not think that shouting and yelling at children is a way to approach them.
I am proactive, funny and full of energy but careful sensible and also responsible. One of my best characteristics is my tolerance. Nowdays it is very important to be tolerant because there are so many different cultures and traditions.
