I am a student at the local university in my second year who is studying Psychology and Counselling in the hopes of working with children through such organisations as The NSPCC and in schools once I've graduated. I used to babysit for a neighbour and his son (who was about 1-2 years old), keep my mothers friends kids entertained (aged 1 and 6), and I have two beautiful cousins who I also enjoy spending time with.
Through my Sports Leadership qualification A Level, I worked with children with various mental disabilities such as Downsyndrome and Autism where I helped to improve their physical skills. This included trampolining, throwing and catching and classic games like duck, duck, goose. As I was working with children, this meant I was given a basic knowledge of First Aid (Heimlich maneuver, CPR and recovery position) as well as a Child Protection Certificate.
I have a fairly basic understanding of French, and GCSE's at a C or higher in Maths, English, Science, History, RE, ICT and Expressive Arts so would feel comfortable in helping with homework should that be needed.
I'm looking for mainly evening care where I can interact and look after the children and then work on any assignments for University on my laptop once they haven gone to sleep. I am usually up until about 1-2am so would not be bothered about babysitting until such times.
Occasional babysitting | $7.50 per hour |
Although I dont have much experience, I do have experience working with large groups of disabled children from my Sports Leadership Level 4 qualification which came with a first aid crash course and Child Protection certificate. I aim to work with children once I've finished my degree so would love the chance to get better experience with them.
